DOHA, Qatar — Qatar’s tourism sector continues to show strong growth, welcoming more than 2.6 million international visitors during the first half of 2025, according to figures released by Qatar Tourism.
Officials say the increase represents a 3% rise compared with the same period in 2024, highlighting Qatar’s growing popularity as a destination for both regional and international travelers.
Travelers from GCC countries accounted for the largest share of visitors at 36%, followed by tourists from Europe and Asia. Authorities say this reflects the success of Qatar’s strategy to diversify tourism markets and attract visitors from different regions.
Industry leaders attribute the growth to a combination of major events, improved tourism infrastructure, and international partnerships that have positioned Doha as a year-round destination for business and leisure travelers.
The tourism sector has also become an important part of Qatar’s economic diversification efforts, contributing billions of riyals to the national economy while supporting hotels, restaurants, and transport services across the country. [qatarnewsjournal.com]
As the country continues investing in global events, cultural attractions, and hospitality development, officials expect tourism to play an even bigger role in achieving Qatar National Vision 2030 and strengthening the country’s position within the GCC travel market.
